who we are
History
Founder Lynette Huffman Johnson began photographing families and children in 1984, shortly after the birth of her first daughter, but in 1996 her sister-in-law asked her to take a different kind of picture: a picture of her niece, Lanie, who was stillborn. Another close friend’s baby had died over two decades prior, and it was the memory of these two children, Lanie and Janus, that inspired Lynette to form Soulumination.
Who we serve
Our Angel Babies program serves families with children, ages 18 & under, facing life-threatening conditions. Our Adult Legacy program serves families with terminally-ill parents nearing end-of-life, who have children ages 18 & under. These families are provided with professional photographs, free of charge, as an enduring, positive record of the child’s life, and as a loving legacy for the children of parents lost to terminal illness.
We primarily serve families in the greater Puget Sound area of Washington State, but are happy to assist families in connecting with photographers in other areas and across the nation.

Since inception as a 501(c)(3) non-profit public organization in 2005, Soulumination has grown to over 40 professional photographers who volunteer their time and talents, and over 120 community volunteers who lovingly help us serve these families.
