Anellah R

When Daniel and Lindsey adopted 15-month-old Anellah in 2010, they knew she had diabetes. But they would not know until two years later that she had an extremely rare syndrome called GLIS-3 Mutation. After she passed away from this condition on April 24, 2015, a geneticist published a paper on her case, which is only the tenth recorded case in history. “She was glittery, creative, and loving,” her mother says. “She wore a tutu every day and didn’t waste her life walking…she danced instead. She would rather sing or speak in riddles than talk, and she loved her little siblings (Capper and Evelyn) more than life.”

Anellah’s family would like to thank UCSF Benioff Hospital, “who cared for her for over half her life prior to her living with us,” and Seattle Children’s Hospital, “who supported her death with dignity.”
