Annalise K

At five months old, Annalise is emerging from a battle against congenital diaphragmatic hernia—a hole in the diaphragm. Shortly after she was born, she was hooked up to a heart/lung machine to assist her breathing. When she was ten days old, she went through her first surgery, and went through her second four days later. She ended up spending 78 days in the hospital, struggling to breath without mechanical assistance. Today, she is a “completely healthy and happy baby,” her mother says. “She is a fighter!”

Annalise’s family would like to thank CHERUBS (The Association of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Research, Awareness and Support) for its help throughout their struggle.
