in honor of Araiya

For two days—from June 19 to June 21, 2014—Ashley and Chris were graced with the physical presence of their darling first daughter, Araiya Gabrielle. Born with autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease, little Araiya, in the words of her mom and dad, “definitely lived up to the meaning of her name: Araiya (beautiful, divine) Gabrielle (woman of God).”

“She is a peaceful warrior,” they say now. “On one of her last ultrasounds before birth, she had her hands together in front of her face. We decided she was either praying or ready to fight—or BOTH!”
