in honor of Elias

On December 29, 2011, Elias came into the world with trachea esophageal atresia. Surgeons were able to repair the damage, but he subsequently came down with a cold that blocked his airway, causing prolonged oxygen deprivation and eventual brain death. “He was so very sweet,” his mother says. “It did not take much to get him to smile.” Elias had three older siblings—Josiah, Jaelle, and Enoch—who “adored him and loved getting him to smile. He was so loved, cooed and cuddled by all of us. All he wanted or needed was someone talking to him…it always made his eyes smile.”

Elias’s mother wants to thank the pediatric surgeons and NICU at Swedish First Hill. “They gave us five more months with our little love!”
