Emily was born on October 10, 2008, and passed away on March 5, 2010. Emily suffered from mitochondrial myopathy disorder, which affects both brain and body. She also suffered from kidney failure, a heart attack, seizures, deafness and eventually blindness. Emily “was always easy to make smile,” her family says, “and loved dancing with her grandpa and looking at neon lights. She may not have been able to hear, but she loved putting her hand on the speaker to feel the vibrations of speech. She had a unique ability to make whoever was around her happy.”
Emily’s family would like to thank the Child Development Center, the Montana School for the Deaf and Blind, Alaska Airlines, the Doug Betters Foundation, and the Compassionate Friends Network, for all their support.
