in honor of Shamus

Shamus was born on February 24, 2008. He is the son of Terry and Jamie, and the little brother of Harper. Shamus suffers from neuroblastoma, a form of cancer. He has been through four rounds of chemotherapy and had 90 percent of a tumor removed. He is in follow-up treatment at Duke University, to ensure that his cancer doesn’t return.

“When Shamus smiles,” his mother says, “his whole face lights up. Throughout his battle with cancer, and while going through chemo, he would continue to smile even on his worse days. People always would say when they looked at him that they couldn’t tell he was sick.”
