in honor of Taryn

Taryn was born on December 5, 2001. She is the daughter of E.J. and Debbie, and the sister of Jayde, Austyn, and Payton. Taryn has been diagnosed with a progressive, terminal and extremely rare mitochondrial disease - one never seen before in recorded medical history. Her complex of symptoms have rendered her hypotonic, severely hearing-impaired, unable to communicate, lacking fine and gross motor skills, and unable to walk or sit up.

Yet Taryn is always happy and smiling, and even when sick will give you her trademark sweet smile. Her parents say that she “brings joy to us and everyone around her. Anyone that comes in contact with Taryn-be it at school, the airport, in restaurants-leaves with Taryn’s everlasting impact on them, delivered with her smile and sweet nature.”

You can learn more about Taryn’s condition at the following web sites: United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, Heartbeats for Mito; Taryn’s Caring Bridge website; and Eli’s Angels.
