Luis G-M.
Weighing in at 1.3 pounds, Luis was born prematurely, after only 24 weeks in utero, on May 9, 2014. Among the conditions related to his premature birth are bronchopulmonary dysplasia, bowel perforation, weak bones, and eye conditions requiring surgery. “I admire and love any single thing about him,” his mother says, “the strength in such a tiny body, his determination.”
He has always had a way of making sure people know he’s here and determined to stay. “He came into the world screaming! Doctors at the OR asked several times if I heard him. His lungs were not strong and mature enough to breathe on their own, but he let me know he was there and he was gonna fight!!”
Luis has a zest for life as well. “I love when he discovers the world. Everything seems to be magical and exciting to him. He brightens my life when he smiles or when he grunts!”
Luis’s mom wants to thank “Karen Gordon from PACT at Seattle Children’s. They are excellent, helping in this difficult, unknown road, coping with it, helping me understand and communicate better with doctors.”
