Bethany and Glenn were 20 weeks into Bethany’s second pregnancy when they received dire news about their new baby: an ultrasound revealed a congenital heart defect that would require extensive surgery. The family came to the University of Washington Medical Center from their home in Coeur d’Alene for the birth, after which their new baby—Colton—was transferred to Seattle Children’s.

here, he underwent five months of multiple catheter lab procedures and open-heart surgery before finally being allowed to return home.

Colton is stable and thriving,” his mother reports. “He loves his older sister and his puppies.”

Colton’s parents “love looking at the new beautiful pictures on our wall. They symbolize how far we have come as a family and how strong our little heart warrior is.”
