Harlen L.

Born on September 4, 2016, Harlen is fighting Charge Syndrome, which comes with an array of significant symptoms. He has a cleft lip and palate, facial palsy, deformed ears and hearing loss, trouble swallowing, breathing issues, low muscle tone and delayed motor skills. He is tube-fed as well. Through daunting struggles and three months in hospital, his mother says, “he has stayed so calm and sweet with everything. He is a tough little fighter who never gives up.” She most vividly remembers when Harlen was about a month old, he was rushed into emergency surgery because his feeding tube had put a hole in his intestine. “Even through the pain, bright lights, nurses and doctors all around him, he stayed calm and sweet. He has been a fighter from Day One, and everyone comments on his sweet disposition.”
