SERVING FAMILIES IN WASHINGTON STATE SINCE 2005

WHO WE SERVE: Our Child Legacy program serves families with children 18 and under who are currently facing a life-threatening condition in Washington state. We will serve patients over 18 who are being treated in a Children’s Hospital. Our Parent Legacy program serves families with children 18 and under who have a parent currently facing a life-threatening condition in Washington state.

Examples of circumstances and conditions we photograph, include, but are not limited to; all stages of cancer treatment, genetic disorders, medical complexities, congenital anomalies, respiratory failure, cardiac events, transplants, brain injuries, move to comfort care, and imminent passing of the patient. We will photograph compassionate removal of care and the subsequent process of transition; however, we do not take requests after a patient has passed away. If a photo session is scheduled, and the patient passes, we will fulfill the request if the family so wishes.

HOW WE SERVE: Families receive a professional photo session, private online gallery, and custom legacy gifts, free of charge. We offer 1 initial photo session per family; a 2nd photo session may be requested at any time due to imminent passing of the patient. If the patient remains hospitalized or their condition remains life-limiting, follow-up photo sessions may be requested every 18 months until the patient turns 18 years old.

WHO WE PHOTOGRAPH; We encourage and recommend family members to be part of the photo session, when possible. One parent or guardian must be present at the session. We do not photograph events, parties, or for other organizations; we work for and with the family.

WHEN WE PHOTOGRAPH: Monday-Sunday at a mutually agreed upon time for our photographer and the family. We plan for a one-hour photo session, preferably at a time of day best suited to the patient. Photo sessions needed within 24 hours are reserved for unplanned removal of care or imminent passing of the patient and are considered urgent. To maximize our chances of securing an available photographer and getting them on location, we ask for a minimum of 2 hours’ notice.

WHERE WE PHOTOGRAPH: Primarily the greater Seattle, Tacoma, and Spokane areas, in-hospital, or at a mutually agreed upon location, such as home or a favorite park.

OUR PHOTOGRAPHERS: Soulumination photographers are amazing professionals who generously donate their time and talent. Prior to joining Soulumination they complete a comprehensive application, and their work is vetted. If approved, photographers are onboarded, trained, and background checked.
