Our mission: To celebrate life through photography
For families, our cherished photographs and treasured keepsakes represent a beautiful and enduring record of a child or parent facing a life-threatening condition.
For families, our cherished photographs and treasured keepsakes represent a beautiful and enduring record of a child or parent facing a life-threatening condition.
Founder Lynette Huffman Johnson began photographing families and children in 1984 after the birth of her first daughter. The inspiration for Soulumination grew out of her support of a close friend and a family member, both of whom lost babies. Added inspiration came from Lynette’s work as a photographer for Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Lynette’s work was featured in People Magazine in 2005, the year Soulumination was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Today, Soulumination has grown to more than 70 professional photographers and 40 community volunteers. We photograph more than 250 families a year and work directly with hospitals and other nonprofits and organizations. We accept referrals from social workers, doctors, nurses, friends, and family members.
